Strikes disrupt transport, health services, schools in Italy

Rome, Mar 9 (UNI) A 24-hour national strike action in Italy disrupted transport, health services and the school system on Friday, as unions demanded stronger measures to address gender imbalance in the job market as well as better, safer working conditions.
Trains, ferries and local public transport suffered major disruptions as workers from both public and private companies participated in the walkout, though levels of involvement varied across different regions.
The national railway company, Ferrovie dello Stato (FS), and local transport operators worked to ensure essential services for travellers and commuters in the peak hours.
