Day temperatures above normal at few places over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi

Pune, Apr 11(UNI) Day temperatures were appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at many places over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi; at a few places over Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad; at isolated places over west Rajasthan, west Uttar Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya; above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at many places over Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh,; at a few places over east Rajasthan, Kerala and Mahe, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam; at isolated places over east Uttar Pradesh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Bihar, Madhya Maharashtra and Gujarat.
These were appreciably below normal (-3.1°C to -5.0°C) at isolated places over Vidarbha; below normal (-1.6°C to -3.0°C) at isolated places over Madhya Pradesh, Odisha and near normal over rest parts of the country. Yesterday, the highest maximum temperature of 42.4°C was reported at Barmer (west Rajasthan) over the country.
