Panaji, Nov 4 (UNI) Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has announced that the state government will reduce an additional Rs seven on petrol as well as diesel making the petro products cheaper in the state.
Following the reduction, diesel in the state would be cheaper by Rs 17 while petrol Rs 12.
Taking to Twitter, he said,'The Modi Govt. has given a great Diwali gift to all Indians, by announcing reduction in Excise Duty on Petrol and Diesel. I thank the Hon'ble PM @narendramodi Ji as this decision shall give great relief to common man and help control inflation.'
'In addition, the Government of Goa shall reduce an additional Rs 7 on Petrol and Rs 7 on Diesel, thereby reducing the price of diesel by Rs 17 per litre and petrol by Rs 12 per litre,' he said.
The state government along with the Centre, both ruled by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), was under tremendous criticism for not taking steps to reduce fuel prices which had breached record prices.
The central government slashed the excise duty on petrol and diesel by Rs five and ten respectively on Wednesday.
