Jammu, Mar 10 (UNI) Former employees of the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council under the banner of Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council Employees Welfare Association (JKSCEWA) on Sunday urged Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to address their much awaited demand of pension scheme for the employees.
Notably, Sinha is also the President of the J&K Sports Council.
In a meeting here, the association members highlighted the challenges faced due to the absence of pension disbursements and echoed concerns raised by General Council and Standing Committee members from relevant departments.
"The delays have significantly impacted the welfare of dedicated employees," they stated.
The General Council and Standing Committee of the J&K Sports Council, comprising esteemed personalities from various departments, have been instrumental in guiding the development trajectory of the council and its employees, the meeting said adding, "However, the pressing issue of pensions remains unresolved following which a joint letter has been signed to be presented to the Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha."
The letter, as per the JKSCEWA members have urged for an emergency General Council meeting to promptly address the demands of the Sports Council employees, as previously promised.
To facilitate further action, a three-member committee, consisting of former employees, Rajan Sharma, Saktish Chopra, and Nazir Ahmed from the Jammu division, has been proposed to collaborate with the Kashmir division committee.
Other members namely Krishan Lal Sharma, Bishambar Singh, Rajan Sharma and Ashok Singh as well as retired Assistant Managers and Section Officers Bua Ditta, Salamat Chaudhary, and Nazir Ahmed, retired Chief Coaches Shamsher Singh and Vishwamitter, along with Groundmen Ajit Singh, Kura Ram and Mohd. Shafi were among present in the meeting.
The Association members emphasized the urgency of resolving the pension issue and remains committed to advocating for the welfare of its employees.
