16 KG gold, Rs 15 lakh cash seized

Eluru, AP, Apr 8 (UNI) The election flying squad seized 16 kg of gold, 31 kg of silver, and Rs 16 lakh in cash while being transported in a van at Kalaparru toll gate on Monday.
Joint Collector B Lavanya Veni said the election flying squads and SS teams jointly conducted checking of vehicles at the toll gate. They found a van carrying Rs 15,52,300 in cash, 16.528 KG of gold, and 31.042 KG of silver without proper documents.
Since they failed to produce relevant documents regarding the cash, gold, and silver, the officials seized them. The seized cash, gold, and silver were handed over to the state treasury department.

In the first case Rongala Simhachalam (70) used her voting right at booth number 41 of A. Mallavaram village of Peddapuram sub division but on reaching home collapsed at the entrance and breathed her last.
