Cong, NC to jointly contest LS polls in J&K & Ladakh

New Delhi, Apr 8 (UNI) The Indian National Congress (INC) and the National Conference (NC) on Monday decided to jointly contest the upcoming Lok Sabha election in the Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.

Addressing the media here, National Conference leader Omar Abdullah said, "I am happy to announce that today the National Conference and the Congress party have decided to jointly contest the six Lok Sabha seats of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh."

Abdullah said that both the parties have decided to contest three seats each. Adding that the names of three candidates have already been announced. Lal Singh Choudhary will contest from Udhampur, Raman Bhalla from Jammu and Mian Altaf will contest from Anantnag.

He said, “For the remaining three seats i.e Baramulla, Srinagar and Ladakh, candidates will be announced soon. The INDIA alliance will work together to ensure that we win all the six seats of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh so that we can raise the issues of the people of the area in the Lok Sabha.”
