Nongpoh Hospital in Meghalaya's only 'aspirational district' fails to provide health care services

Nongpoh (Meghalaya), Mar 15 (UNI) The poor tribal people have benefited less than intended with the Nongpoh Civil Hospital, the largest health centre in Meghalaya's only 'aspirational district' Ri Bhoi, having failed miserably to provide health care services.
In January 2018, Meghalaya’s Ri Bhoi was adopted as one of the 115 “aspirational districts” of India to improve the living conditions of the tribal people.
It is surprising that even after six years of the “aspirational district” initiative, the Nongpoh Civil Hospital located along the Guwahati Shillong Road did not upgrade its facilities to the standard of a district hospital.
