LS Polls: Campaigning reaches peak in Meghalaya

Shillong, April 15 (UNI) Campaigning by the various political parties has reached its peak as Meghalaya is all set to vote in the first phase of the general elections on April 19 to elect members of parliament to represent the Shillong and Tura Lok Sabha seats.
Party candidates are holding election meetings in the state capital and elsewhere to garner support in their favour.
Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma, who is also president of the National People’s Party (NPP), has been on a hectic campaign trail across the state to drum up support for the sitting Tura MP, his sister Agatha Sangma, and his cabinet colleague Ampareen Lyngdoh for the Shillong Lok Sabha seat.

Kolkata, May 6 (UNI) Ahead of the third phase of polling in West Bengal's four Lok Sabha seats, the Election Commission of India has directed the polling authorities to ensure a special arrangement for
comfort of voters so that the current heat wave cannot deter the electorate from casting votes, especially for elders, women, and PWD (Visual impairment; speech and hearing disability) at the polling stations.
