Two arrested for disturbing NPP election rally in Meghalaya

Shillong, April 8 (UNI) Meghalaya police have arrested two persons for allegedly disturbing the election campaign of National People’s Party (NPP) Lok Sabha candidate from Shillong parliamentary seat, Dr. Mazel Ampareen Lyngdoh, on Monday evening.
As soon as the NPP candidate began her election speech at Umsning market in Ri-Bhoi district, the election slogan of Voice of the People Party (VPP), “Ha U Prah” (Vote for Winnower—the election symbol of the VPP), was raised.
“There were some drunkards who started shouting “Ha U Prah" during the election rally of the NPP. We have picked two of them to avoid any untoward incident; they were taken to Umsning PS,” Jagpal Singh Dhanoa, the district police chief of Ri Bhoi District, said.
