Telangana ranks 2nd in country with tele density of 108.19pc: Chief Secretary

Hyderabad, Apr 2 (UNI) Telangana Chief Secretary Santhi Kumar announced that Telangana has achieved a tele density of 108.19 per cent, securing the second position in the country.

During the 6th broadband committee meeting held at the secretariat on Tuesday, various issues concerning the expansion and establishment of new telecom infrastructure in the state were deliberated.

Chairing the meeting, Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari highlighted Telangana's impressive telecom achievements, including its leading position in several indicators such as tower density and mobile connectivity. Notably, 97.4 per cent of villages in Telangana are covered by mobile connectivity.

Despite a population of 3.5 crores, the state boasts 4.14 crores of mobile connections. Moreover, there has been significant growth in telecom tower installations, with a total of 1448 towers added in the current financial year.

The Chief Secretary directed officials from Municipal, Panchayat Raj, Electricity, and Forest departments to designate nodal officers for effective coordination in addressing issues faced by telecom service providers and the Department of Telecom.

The meeting also discussed the implementation of an app for all departments to facilitate information sharing related to excavation activities, a statement said.
