Meghalaya: NPP win will ensure more Christian representation: BJP

Shillong, Apr 16 (UNI) The BJP has stated that the victory of candidates of its ally National People’s Party (NPP) in Christian-majority Meghalaya would ensure a “strong Christian representation” in the government at the Centre, which would be formed by the NDA.
The BJP, a constituent of the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) government, has extended support to the NPP for the Lok Sabha elections and has not fielded its candidates.
Referring to NPP candidates Agatha Sangma from Tura and Dr. Mazel Ampareen Lyngdoh from Shillong Lok Sabha seats, Meghalaya BJP legislator Sanbor Shullai said that both of them if elected, can raise issues related to the Christian community, and being part of the government, would have a better say.
