Male elephant electrocuted in Wayanad

Wayanad, Apr 28 (UNI) A male elephant was electrocuted after a huge coconut tree uprooted by the tusker fell on an electric cable of Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) at Neervaram-Ammaani area near Panamaram on Sunday.
The incident came to light at around 0730 hours, when local residents went to investigate the cause of power failure in the morning and found the pachyderm lying near the coconut tree and electric wires in the coffee plantation of one Jayaraj.
They alerted the forest officials and South Wayanad District Forest officer (DFO) Shajna Kareem led a team to the spot and shifted the carcass of the tusker by using a crane and a lorry for post-mortem.
