Bengaluru, April 26 (UNI) The Election Commission of India on Friday released preliminary figures indicating a diverse voter turnout across Karnataka in the ongoing elections.
As of 9 am, the state recorded an overall turnout of 9 percent, with significant variations observed among different constituencies.
In South Karnataka, where 14 constituencies are actively participating in the electoral process, Udupi-Chikmagalur emerged as the frontrunner with a robust turnout of 12.8 percent by 9 am.
However, Mandya and Chamarajanagar constituencies lagged behind, both reporting a turnout of only 7.7 percent.
In Bengaluru, the South constituency took the lead with 9 percent of registered voters exercising their franchise, closely followed by North with 8.4 percent and Central with 8.14 percent participation rates.
Moving to the Lok Sabha constituencies, Dakshina Kannada stood out with a turnout of 12.75%, contrasting with Mandya's 7.70% participation. The Hassan Lok Sabha constituency also contributed to the electoral process with an 8.2% voter turnout by 9 am.
Providing insights into constituency-wise turnouts, Dakshina Kannada's Deputy Commissioner, Mullai Muhilan MP, disclosed a tentative voter turnout of 14.33% across the constituency at the same hour.
Sullia constituency reported the highest engagement, with an impressive 16.46% turnout, while Moodbidri witnessed the lowest at 12.2%.
