Bengaluru, Jan 14 (UNI) The Karnataka High Court on Friday convicted two representatives of an NGO for contempt of court after they filed frivolous cases against former Wipro Chairman Azim Premji and his trust, despite dismissing multiple petitions with similar allegations in substance.
The representatives of India Awake For Transparency, advocates R Subramanian and P Sadanand, have been granted simple imprisonment for a period of one month by the court under section 12 of Contempt of Court Act along with a fine of Rs 2,000 each.
The court also restrained the convicts from initiating any legal proceedings against Premji and his group of companies, before any court, or any authority of law.
