Hamirpur (HP), Dec 5(UNI) HP Governor, Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar has exhorted the staff and students of the HP Technical University to work according to the needs of the people as the skill development that was the main working of the University was the need of the hour for the common man, it was reported on Sunday.
He said,” People should feel this is our university”.
While addressing a meeting of the University staff and students here last evening, he said that the Technical University should do special work regarding the prevention of landslides in Himachal so casualties could be prevented or minimised.
Along with this, the Governor told them to work for preparing the students keeping in mind the needs of the society as well as the industries, so that there could be overall upliftment of society.
The Governor said that Himachal Pradesh has immense potential for tourism, so there was a need to work on tourism as well. He said that the technical university has been instructed to prepare a draft on what can be done with the view to promote tourism in the state.
On this occasion, Registrar Anupam Thakur, other officers, and teachers apprised the Governor and the Chancellor of the University about various activities and achievements.
After interacting with the officials and professors of the Technical University, the Governor visited the campus and also took stock of the data center and web studio. Earlier, the Governor planted a sapling of Rudraksha on the technical university campus.
Deputy Commissioner Debashweta Banik, SP Dr. Aakriti Sharma, and other officers were also present on the occasion.
