EU condemns Russia's UNSC veto on extending work of N Korea sanctions panel

Moscow, Mar 29 (UNI) The European Union has condemned Russia's vetoing a US-drafted UN Security Council resolution to extend the mandate of the group of experts overseeing sanctions on North Korea until April 30, 2025, and called for the decision to be reconsidered.

"The European Union and its Member States strongly condemn the use of a veto by the Russian Federation in the United Nations Security Council today blocking the extension of the mandate of the UN 1718 DPRK [the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea] Sanctions Committees Panel of Experts (PoE)," the delegation of the EU to the UN said in a statement published on Thursday.
