New Delhi Jan 15 (UNI) The BJP on Saturday released a list of 107 candidates for the first two phases of the upcoming Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, dropping 20 outgoing members.
Of the 107, 63 are sitting MLAs.
The list was released at a press conference by Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and BJP National General Secretary Arun Singh here.
Pradhan said: "We are releasing a list of 57 candidates out of 58 seats in the first phase and 48 out 55 in the second phase."
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will contest from his political hub Gorkhpur and his Deputy Kesav Prasad Maurya from Sirathu in Prayagraj district.
Adityanath, a five-term former Lok Sabha member from Gorakhpur, is a member of the Legislative Council.
Pankaj Singh will contest from Noida and Power Minister Shrikant Sharma from Mathura.
Elections for the 403 constituencies in Uttar Pradesh will be held in seven phases starting on February 10. A total of 58 seats spread over 11 districts will go the polls on February 10.
