2 militants killed, 2 Army men injured in J&K’s Sopore gun battle

Srinagar, April 26 (UNI) Security forces shot dead two militants during an overnight operation in Jammu and Kashmir’s Sopore sub-district.
Two soldiers and a civilian were also injured during the encounter, officials said.
The encounter between militants and forces in Sopore, an erstwhile militant hotbed, broke out Thursday evening.

Over 1000 people affected as storm hits Meghalaya

Shillong, May 6 (UNI) Over 1000 people have been affected and 483 houses damaged after heavy rainfall accompanied by cyclonic storm and hailstorm hit several parts of Meghalaya since Sunday, an official said on Monday.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in the region for another 48 hours.
