White House officials state Trump's controversial federal takeover of Portland is a two-fold-opportunity in disguise

Washington, Oct 2 (UNI) White House officials have offered a more favourable and positive view over US President Donald Trump's highly controversial deployment of federal troops to Portland, Oregon, in his bid to battle crime, viewing it as an opportunity in disguise, calling it both a security necessity and a political opportunity ahead of the 2026 midterms.
Officially, the administration insists the mission is aimed at protecting Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facilities targeted by months of demonstrations.
Several aides have maintained that Trump has a hidden agenda behind the deployment, as he has long been eyeing Portland as a staging ground to strengthen his claims of "war-ravaged" city that needs federal intervention, thus turning it into a political war zone for his broader federal crime crackdown.
