The Best Gift Ever! Can’t wait to see you play my cover drive: Sourav to Rajkummar, unleashing his biopic poster

Kolkata, July 8 (UNI) Former India captain Sourav Ganguly marked his 54th birthday with a moment he called the "best gift ever", unveiling the first-look poster of his biographical film "Dada - The Sourav Ganguly Story" on Wednesday on his different social media handles.
The veteran cricketer shared the poster on social media along with the caption "The Best Gift Ever! Can’t wait to see you play my cover drive," directed to actor Rajkummar Rao, who is headlining the biopic. The post caught the attention of netizens, prompting it to spread rapidly.
The poster featuring Rao in that iconic pose, which propelled him to the pinnacle of global popularity, the daring scene where he stood on the Lord’s balcony in England, took off his shirt, and waved it in the air.
After India successfully chased 326 against the England cricket team in the NatWest final, the gesture was Ganguly's response to Andrew Flintoff, who had celebrated in a similar fashion against India earlier in the series. Recovering from a precarious position, the visitors were rescued by inspired innings from Yuvraj Singh and Mohammad Kaif.
The prince of Calcutta celebrated his birthday this morning by cutting a cake at his Behala residence. Fans from various parts of the state arrived to celebrate the birthday of their beloved 'Dada,' alongside the usual family festivities.
Ganguly, often attributed as 'Maharaja' for his exceptional forte in his craft, revealed that he has been closely associated with the project from the outset. He has been working alongside the filmmakers from the beginning, contributing to the script, screenplay and the recreation of key moments from his life.
"Dada - The Sourav Ganguly Story" is the inspiring story of a man who not only played cricket but also changed the face of Indian cricket. The film will trace his journey from a talented young cricketer to one of India's most influential captains. The story will highlight his passion, struggle, and determination, which redefined Indian cricket and inspired an entire generation.
Helmed by Vikramaditya Motwane. and mounted by Luv Ranjan and Ankur Garg. It is presented by Gulshan Kumar, Bhushan Kumar, T-Series, and DBL. It is produced under the banner of Luv Films and will hit the theatres worldwide on May 14, 2027. UNI NST CDS
