Tessa Thompson to headline suburban thriller series 'Next Door'

Los Angeles, Mar 3 (UNI) In a fiercely contested acquisition, a major streaming platform has secured "Next Door", an upcoming television series from "Love Life" creator Sam Boyd and indie powerhouse A24, with Tessa Thompson attached to both star and executive produce.
The project has been placed on an accelerated development track, with a writers' room currently being assembled following a competitive bidding process, reports DEADLINE.
"Next Door" is bankrolled by Joe Hipps' A24-based Cut To.
Although the plot details are under wraps, "Next Door" is described as a darkly humorous thriller centred on the anxieties of modern marriage and the creeping paranoia in the modern American suburbs, inspired by movies in the vein of "Little Children" and "Rear Window".
"Little Children" is the 2006 film from Todd Field, based on the Tom Perrotta novel released the same year. Kate Winslet stars as an unhappy housewife who entangles herself into an affair with her married neighbour (Patrick Wilson).
"Rear Window" is a 1954 film directed by Alfred Hitchcock, based on Cornell Woolrich's short story "It Had to Be Murder." The film centres on a voyeuristic photographer named Jeff (James Stewart), who, while spying on his neighbours, believes he witnessed the murder of a woman (Irene Winston) at the hands of her husband (Raymond Burr).
Boyd will serve as writer, director, showrunner and executive producer. Thompson executive produces under her banner Viva Maude, alongside Kishori Rajan, with Hipps also shepherding the production. UNI NST SSP
