President reaches Kanpur, attends IIT convocation

Kanpur, June 28 (UNI) President Ram Nath Kovind reached his home town Kanpur on Thursday morning and would be in the city and Allahabad for two days.

According to official sources here, the President arrived at the Chakeri airport at 0935 hrs where he was accorded a warm welcome by state Industry Minister Satish Mahana.

Governor Ram Naik also reached the airport and welcomed the President.
Mr Kovind was accompanied by his wife Savita and son Prashant. From the airport, the President left to attend the 51st Annual Convocation of Indian Institute of Technology(IIT) Kanpur and later in the day, will meet the students of Centre for Social Responsibility and Leadership (CSRL) Super 30 at IIT Kanpur Guest House.

The President will hand over degrees to IIT pass outs to 1576 students.

Besides, Mr Kovind will also attend a Civic reception in the evening at MES guest house in the Cantonment area where he will meet the people's representatives, industrialists, social workers and educationists of the city.

He will stay the night stay at the MES guest house.

On Friday morning, the President will lay the foundation for the hall of the Bar Association at Rajendra Swarup auditorium where UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is also likely to join. He will then attend the felicitation function being organised by the Kanpur Bar Association and the Lawyers Association.

Later, the President will leave for Allahabad and will grace the Centenary Celebration of Allahabad Medical Association at AMA Convention & Rehabilitation Centre in Allahabad.
