Political tensions in Bangladesh rise, as NCP officials accuse CA Yunus of attempting to derail upcoming elections

Dhaka, Nov 4 (UNI) Flaring greater political tensions and exacerbating the already considerable socio-political unrest in Bangladesh, officials of its newly-formed National Citizen Party (NCP) accused the interim administration led by Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus of trying to derail the February 2026 general elections.
At a press conference in Dhaka, NCP leaders alleged that the interim government was shirking its responsibility to implement the country's newly proposed constitutional reform draft, called the July Charter, and instead placing the burden on political parties.
The document - aimed at the total overhaul of the existing political system in the country, and reforming the constitutional framework – and its implementation have been the central source of tension between all political factions, and the interim government.
