PM Modi meets Austrian President, discusses bilateral ties, Ukraine

Vienna/New Delhi, July 10 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday met Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen during which the two leaders discussed ways to expand bilateral cooperation as well as peace in Ukraine.
The PM in a post on X said:
“Had a very good meeting with Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen and discussed ways to expand India-Austria cooperation.”
The Austrian President in posts on X said Austria wants to expand its cooperation with India, including in the common fight against the climate catastrophe. The two leaders also discussed the Ukraine conflict and agreed that both countries would support efforts toward peace.
“Thanks for visiting Austria, @narendramodi!
We have a long friendship and strong bilateral relations with #Indien , especially in the economic area. We now want to expand these further.
"As the most populous country in the world and a global economic power, India plays an important role in the common fight against the #Klimakatastrophe (climate catastrophe)
“We need India as a partner in a structurally sustainable transformation towards climate neutrality.
“@narendramodi and I also talked about current geopolitical challenges, especially the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine.
“We agreed that the #Ukraine urgently needs peace and that we will support efforts in this direction. “
The MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal posted on X:
“Advancing India-Austria partnership!
PM @narendramodi met Federal President @vanderbellen of Austria in Vienna today.
“The two leaders discussed bilateral and global issues. They also exchanged views on environmental sustainability, global warming and climate change action.”
