OPPO India launches Reno16 Series with AI focus, local manufacturing push; devices go on sale July 9

Hyderabad, July 8 (UNI) OPPO India on Wednesday launched its Reno16 Series, comprising the Reno16 and Reno 16c, strengthening its presence in India's premium mid-range smartphone segment with a focus on artificial intelligence (AI), creator-centric features and connected lifestyle products.
The Reno16 5G is priced at ₹61,999 for the 8GB 256GB variant and ₹67,999 for the 12GB 256GB model, while the Reno 16c 5G starts at ₹46,999. The smartphones will be available from July 9 through online platforms, retail outlets and the company's official channels.
Speaking at the launch, OPPO India Product Manager Roger Rayappan said the company currently holds 13.9 per cent market share in the premium mid-range smartphone segment.
He said the Reno16 Series is being manufactured at OPPO's Greater Noida facility in Uttar Pradesh, with only around five per cent of the components being imported, underscoring the company's localisation efforts.
Rayappan said the new series reflects OPPO's strategy to tap the growing demand among young consumers who increasingly use smartphones as creative and productivity tools rather than merely communication devices.
He said the Reno16 Series has been positioned as an AI-powered digital companion, combining advanced imaging capabilities, productivity features and premium design.
The lineup introduces India's first HoloVerse 3D Design and features a 50MP 3.5x telephoto portrait camera, Natural Tone Imaging and 4K 60fps HDR video recording across multiple focal lengths.
"Today's generation sees a smartphone as more than a device—it is where creativity begins, stories are captured and individuality is expressed," Rayappan said, adding that the Reno series continues to blend design innovation with user-centric technology.
The Reno16 Series runs on ColorOS 16, integrating AI-powered features including AI Mind Pilot, AI Mind Space, AI Bill Manager, AI Translation and AI Recording Sticker, aimed at enhancing productivity and content creation for professionals, students, travellers and creators.
Rayappan said AI has emerged as a key differentiator in the smartphone industry, with manufacturers increasingly competing on software capabilities in addition to hardware innovation.
As part of its ecosystem strategy, OPPO has also introduced OPPO Bubble, a smart camera companion designed for creators, along with the OPPO Enco Air5 wireless earbuds, expanding its portfolio beyond smartphones.
He said the company expects the Reno16 Series to benefit from growing consumer demand for AI-enabled premium smartphones and content creation tools.
To drive early adoption, OPPO is offering cashback benefits, exchange bonuses, zero down payment financing and bundled accessory offers for buyers upgrading to the new series.
According to Rayappan, the Reno16 Series aligns with OPPO's broader strategy of targeting India's expanding creator economy by combining AI photography, performance upgrades, long-lasting batteries and connected accessories into a lifestyle-focused premium smartphone offering.
