Srinagar, Oct 11 ( UNI) The National Investigation Agency on Tuesday conducted searches at 18 locations in Jammu and Kashmir in a case relating to the suspicious activities of Al Huda Educational Trust, Rajouri, the agency said.
The NIA also arrested Ameer Shamshi, the Chairperson (Nizam-e-ala) of AHET.
The raids were conducted in the districts of Rajouri, Poonch, Jammu, Srinagar, Pulwama, Budgam, Shopian and Bandipora.
"The case was registered suo-moto by NIA about the funding pattern and activities of Al Huda Educational Trust, which is functioning as a frontal entity for Jamaat-e-Islami J&K, which was declared as an ‘unlawful association’ under UA(P)A in 2019, " the NIA spokesperson said.
"Ameer Shamshi of Rajouri was arrested in the case related to criminal activities of AHET, Rajouri, J&K," spokesperson said adding "investigations have revealed that arrested accused Ameer Shamshi acts on the directions of the Chief Patron of the Trust. "
The NIA said Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) J&K, after being declared as an ‘unlawful association’ under UA(P)Act, has been continuing its activities through its frontal organisations.
"One such organisation is AHET of district Rajouri. AHUT has been found raising funds through various means, including donations, hawala etc purportedly for charitable purposes, but are instead using these funds to radicalise and incite the youth of J&K for unlawful activities and disrupt the territorial integrity and sovereignty of India," the spokesperson said.
"Investigations have also revealed that the ex-officio Chief Patron of AHET is the Ameer-e-Jamaat, JeI (J&K). The trust has continued to raising funds even after the declaration of JEI, J&K as an ‘unlawful association’. Suspect links with other NGOs and trusts operating in the Kashmir valley have also emerged during investigations," NIA said
During the searches conducted, several mobile devices and documents related to funding, properties etc have been seized.
Further investigations in the case are in progress, NIA said
