Nishant Kumar Welcomes Expansion of CM Medical Assistance Scheme

Patna, June 3 (UNI) Bihar Health Minister Nishant Kumar has said that patients from families with an annual income of up to Rs 4 lakh will now be eligible for assistance under the Chief Minister''s Medical Assistance Fund following a decision taken by the state cabinet on Wednesday.
The Minister said the increase in the annual income ceiling for beneficiaries from Rs 2.5 lakh to Rs 4 lakh is expected to extend financial support for treatment to a significantly larger number of economically weaker patients suffering from serious ailments.
Nishant said the Chief Minister''s Medical Assistance Fund has been operating since 2006 under the leadership of former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar with the objective of providing financial assistance to economically disadvantaged patients requiring costly and critical medical treatment.
