Nate's absence from The Devil Wears Prada 2 due to character backlash: Adrian Grenier

Los Angeles, March 15 (UNI) Actor Adrian Grenier believes the mixed reception surrounding his character Nate could be one reason he has not been approached to appear in the sequel to "The Devil Wears Prada".
Grenier played Nate, the chef boyfriend of Andy Sachs, portrayed by Anne Hathaway, in the 2006 adaptation of Lauren Weisberger’s bestselling novel.
In an interview with Page Six, the actor theorised that the “backlash” to his character, Nate Cooper, got him snubbed from the forthcoming sequel to the 2006 cult classic, which will see his on-screen love interest, Anne Hathaway, reprise her role as Andrea “Andy” Sachs.
In the original film, Sachs’ personal life suffered the more she prioritized meeting the high demands of her intense boss, Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep), editor-in-chief of high-fashion publication Runway magazine. (Streep will also star in “DWP2.”)
Fans branded Cooper an unsupportive, immature and selfish boyfriend, which took the “Self Custody” star by surprise.
Premiering May 1 in theaters, "The Devil Wears Prada 2" sees the fashionable return of Hathaway’s Andi, Meryl Streep as Miranda Priestley, Emily Blunt as Emily Charlton and Stanley Tucci as Nigel Kipling.
Although Grenier does not reprise his role as Nate, Tracie Thoms will be back as their friend Lily.
The story centres on her return to Runway Magazine, which is struggling to remain relevant in a changing media environment. Together, Andy and Miranda must persuade their former colleague Emily, now the head of a luxury brand, to secure crucial advertising that could help sustain the struggling magazine. UNI NST CDS
