Maha: Minister Prakash Abitkar, MLAs oppose proposed corridor through Sahyadri Tiger Reserve

Kolhapur, May 6 (UNI) Maharashtra and District Guardian Minister Prakash Abitkar and MLAs from the district today expressed their strong opposition for passing of a proposed new corridor through the Sahyadri Tiger Reserve, which they believe will hamper the development of the locals.
In a official press release issued here, Abitkar said, "It is unfair to take decisions without taking the locals and people's representatives into confidence in the planning of the proposed new corridor through the Sahyadri Tiger Reserve, and this new demarcation will hamper the development of the locals."
A proposal in this regard was sent to the central government for approval two years ago, he informed and said that in this context he has given clear instructions to immediately inform the Forest Department and the relevant Ministry of the Government of India about the views of the local people and people's representatives regarding the proposed corridor of the Wildlife Department.
