Maha: Chemists & druggists from Kolhapur to participate in nationwide 'bandh' on May 20

Kolhapur, May 6 (UNI) The members of the Kolhapur District Chemists Association will take part in a nationwide 'bandh' announced by the
All India Organisation of Chemists and Druggists (AIOCD) on May 20 to protest against online drug sales and unprofessional competition from corporate companies.
Addressing a press conference here, Kolhapur District Chemists Association President Madan Patil said, "the drug business is run under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act 1940 and Rules 1945. However, the organization has alleged that illegal sales are rampant across the country despite the fact that there is no clear provision in this act regarding online drug sales. Although the central government issued a notification under GSR 517(E) on August 28, 2018, it has not yet been converted into law. Meanwhile, a petition in this regard is pending in the Delhi High Court and the court has also stayed the online drug sales.
