Lal Bahadur Shastri’s values moral compass for today’s India: Sunil Shastri

New Delhi, Sept 3 (UNI) Sunil Shastri, son of former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri and ex-Cabinet Minister, evoked deep nostalgia here as he shared heartfelt memories of his father, a leader widely revered for his unwavering integrity, humility, and modesty, among many other enduring human values.
Speaking at a felicitation event organised by Gantavya Sansthan, an NGO, recently to honour women achievers across diverse fields, Shastri, said that his father’s life continues to serve as a moral compass for the nation, especially in these trying times.
“He never raised his voice, never allowed power to distance him from people. Simplicity, sacrifice, and honesty were his way of life,” Sunil Shastri reminisced about an incident when he as a child was unhappy for not spending time with them. “But Babuji, lovingly told me not to get upset as people of this country too are my family as they have entrusted me with a huge task to serve them.”
