Ishaan Khatter teams up with Harman Baweja for quirky comedy

Mumbai, May 5 (UNI) Ishaan Khatter has signed a new commercial entertainer backed by Harman Baweja’s Baweja Studios, marking another addition to his steadily expanding film lineup.
While details of the project are being kept under wraps, it is learnt that it's a quirky comedy that unfolds in unusual and unprecedented circumstances. The yet-untitled film will be directed by Palash Vaswani, best known for helming the popular SonyLIV series, “Gullak”, according to Variety India.
Vaswani, who has previously also directed “Bada Naam Karenge” for Sooraj Barjatya's banner. He makes his feature film directorial debut with this project. Casting for the female lead and other pivotal roles is underway, with production expected to start in the coming two months.
Khatter, who made a striking debut in Majid Majidi’s "Beyond the Clouds" (2017), has since curated a diverse filmography that spans "Dhadak", "Khali Peeli", "Pippa" and "Homebound". This new project also marks his return to comedy after Phone Bhoot, the horror-comedy featuring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Katrina Kaif.

Known for backing critically-acclaimed projects such as "Bhaukaal", "Mrs", “Bhagwat: Chapter One - Raakshas” and “Haq”, the company has two films and a web series slated for release this year — Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari's courtroom drama series “System” starring Sonakshi Sinha and Jyotika; Vikas Bahl's “Dil Ka Darwaza Khol Na Darling” and the Kajol and Prabhu Deva starrer “Maharani: Queen of Queens".
The studio is also developing the big-budget action thriller "Captain India", starring Kartik Aaryan and directed by Shimit Amin. The film is expected to go on floors in July 2026, with a theatrical release planned for late 2027. UNI NST CDS
