India, Australia unveil ambitious strategic agenda as Modi, Albanese deepen Defence, Energy and Economic partnership

New Delhi, Jul 9 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese on Thursday reaffirmed their commitment to significantly deepen the India-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, announcing a series of major initiatives spanning trade, clean energy, nuclear cooperation, critical minerals, defence innovation, maritime security and emerging technologies while jointly underscoring that terrorism remains a shared global threat requiring unwavering international cooperation.
Addressing a joint press statement after the Third India-Australia Annual Summit in Melbourne, Modi described India and Australia as natural partners bound by shared democratic values, multicultural societies and a common strategic outlook in the Indo-Pacific.
"India and Australia are two vibrant democracies, two multicultural societies, and two important ocean powers. These shared characteristics, along with our common worldview, inspire us to move forward together with deep mutual trust," the Prime Minister said, adding that the bilateral Comprehensive Strategic Partnership had made "unprecedented progress" in recent years and that the latest summit had added several new dimensions to bilateral cooperation.
