New Delhi, July 9 (UNI) Two Himalayan Gaddi dogs, Scooby and Putty, have been officially registered with the Indian National Kennel Club, a significant milestone for the indigenous Himalayan breed.
The registrations come after the National Bureau of Animal Genetic Resources (NBAGR) formally recognised the breed, clearing the way for its inclusion in the kennel club's registry.
Native to Himachal Pradesh and the wider Western Himalayan region, the Gaddi dog is named after the Gaddi community, a group of shepherds and herders who have used the dog for generations to guard their sheep and goats from predators.
