Govt e-Marketplace hosts ‘GeM Seller Samvad’ to celebrate its 9th foundation day

New Delhi, Aug 8 (UNI) Government e-marketplace (GeM) celebrated its 9th foundation day on the theme of ‘Ease, Access and Inclusion’.
The initiative was launched in 2016 to promote transparent, inclusive, and efficient public procurement in line with the mission of ‘Minimum Government, Maximum Governance.’
To celebrate this occasion, a ‘GeM Seller Samvad’ was hosted to discuss the measures for building a more inclusive and future-ready procurement system.
At this event, key reforms were introduced, including the elimination of caution money for sellers, the realisation of vendor assessment fees, and a reduction in transaction charges.
These initiatives are making public procurement more accessible and equitable.
Mihir Kumar, Chief Executive Officer, GeM, said, “These reforms demonstrate our intent to make GeM even more inclusive and accessible. Our focus remains on ensuring every enterprise, from tribal artisans to tech-driven startups, can easily access public procurement opportunities.”
In some previous months, GeM recorded notable achievements, including Rs 5.4 crore in Gross Merchandise Value (GMV) in FY 2024-25 with the onboarding of 1.5 lakh women-led enterprises, including startups, self-help groups (SHGs), artisans, or micro and small enterprises.
The Government e-Marketplace is India’s national procurement portal with a focus on driving transparency, efficiency, and inclusivity in procurement.
