Eng speedster Mark Wood ruled out for 4 months

London, Mar 13 (UNI) England fast bowler Mark Wood is set to be sidelined from all forms of cricket for the next four months after undergoing surgery on his left knee.
Recent scans followed by the surgical procedure confirmed ligament damage, ruling him out of action until the end of July 2025.
Wood, 35, has been managing a persistent knee issue for over a year. However, the discomfort escalated during England’s ICC Champions Trophy group-stage match against Afghanistan, leading to further medical assessments that confirmed the severity of the injury.
“I’m gutted to be out for so long after representing England across all formats since the start of last year,” Wood told the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). “But I’ve got every confidence that I’ll be back firing on all cylinders now that I’ve been able to sort my knee out.
“I want to thank the surgeon, the doctors, staff, my England teammates and coaches for their support – and, of course, our fans. I can’t wait to get back and contribute to what is going to be a huge 2025 for us as a team.”
With the surgery now complete, Wood will begin his rehabilitation process with an aim to regain full fitness by July-end.
England are set to host Zimbabwe in a one-off Test in May, followed by a three-match ODI and T20I series against the West Indies. Their home summer will conclude with a five-match Test series against India, beginning on June 20. UNI BDN SSP
