BJP threatens to run parallel government in J&K

Srinagar, Nov 8 (UNI) Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and the Leader of Opposition (LOP) in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Sunil Sharma on Friday threatened to run a "parallel government" in Jammu and Kashmir if the government's behaviour doesn't improve.
Sharma, flanked by several party MLAs, accused Assembly Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather of acting as an "agent of the National Conference (NC)" and making decisions that violate the Constitution.
Several BJP legislators were marshal;ed out the assembly when they jumped into the well and later other members walked out in protest. The BJP legislators held a "parallel assembly" on the lawns of the assembly as a form of sit-in protest.
He said that “there is no mention of special status in the constitution of India which the ruling NC demanded in the resolution passed in the house”.
“I challenge Omar Abdullah, if the word of ‘special status’ is found anywhere in the Indian constitution, I will quit politics”, Sharma said while addressing a press conference in Srinagar on Friday.
The LoP said, the special status which the NC is demanding is of pre 5 August 2019, which was at the time of late Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah. An accord was signed in 1932 with Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru and today his third generation ---Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is demanding the special status.
“There is no mention in the constitution of India the word of special status for Jammu and Kashmir”, the BJP leader said.
He said the resolution the NC brings in the house has demanded "dialogue", but unfortunately the speaker of the house outside the assembly said that in the resolution the demand of the restoration of article 370 has been made. The LoP said the speaker worked like a spokesperson of the NC.
“The Article 370 has been scrapped by the highest democratic constitution of the country and settled by the Supreme Court of India has become a history now”, Sharma said and added “the NC is representing it with the words which are not found in the constitution of India”.
The senior BJP leader alleged “the National Conference which is founder of separatism demonstrated the separatist mind-set and brought an unconstitutional resolution in the house and defunct the integrity and dignity of the Assembly”.
