‘Self-reliant Himachal’ slogan a political gimmick, says Bikram Thakur

Dharamshala, Mar 3 (UNI) Senior BJP leader and former Himachal Pradesh Industries Minister Bikram Thakur on Tuesday alleged that the Congress government’s slogan of making the Himalayan state self-reliant by 2027 was “a mere political gimmick” and accused it of stalling development works across the state.
In a sharp statement issued from Dharamshala, Thakur claimed that restricting MLAs’ priority works to a single scheme reflects the government’s “economic mismanagement and financial bankruptcy.” Earlier, two schemes, each related to roads, drinking water, irrigation, sewerage and other basic facilities, were included under priority, enabling balanced regional development, he said.
He further alleged that instalments under the MLA Area Development Fund were not being released on time. “Earlier, four instalments were sanctioned annually, but now only two are being released, leaving several approved works hanging due to lack of funds,” he added, terming it an insult to the public mandate and democratic values.
