‎Scindia urges Odisha CM to settle BSNL’s Rs 28.54 crore outstanding dues

Bhubaneswar, Feb 5 (UNI) The union Communication Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has urged the Odisha Government for expeditious settlement of Rs 28.54 crore outstanding dues payable to the central public sector undertaking BSNL at the earliest, saying “the State Government's support is vital to enable BSNL to continue delivering essential communication services for regional and national development”.
In a letter addressed to Chief Minister Mohan Majhi, the union Minister said that as on December 31, 2025, Rs. 28.54 crore remained outstanding from departments and organizations under the State of Odisha. Considering BSNL's critical role in providing secure and reliable telecommunications, timely payment of these dues is essential to sustain its operations and service quality.
BSNL plays a vital role in providing telecom services across the country, especially in rural and remote areas. It supports key Government departments, including the Armed Forces, and serves numerous banks and institutions. With its wide network and strong presence, BSNL remains a reliable and trusted service provider for delivering citizen-centric services, the Minister noted.

Meghalaya coal mine blast: ‘Dead’ man turns out to be alive

Shillong, Feb 13 (UNI) In an apparent case of medical mis-judgement related to the dynamite blast at the Myngsnat-Thangsko coal mine in Meghalaya’s East Jaintia Hills, an injured man who was declared dead was later found to be alive to the respite of his family.
Family members of the 44-year-old Shyambabu Singha had performed his last rites, believing he had succumbed to his injuries in the February 5 dynamite explosion.
