Youth stabbed to death near the BJP office in Chandigarh

Chandigarh, Jan 15 (UNI) A young man riding a scooter was stabbed to death in broad daylight near the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) office in Sector 37 here on Friday, triggering concern over public safety in a busy administrative area of the city. The attack was carried out by two assailants who arrived on a motorcycle and fled after the assault.
According to police, the victim, identified as Sumit, a resident of Mauli Jagran in Chandigarh, was attacked with knives near a petrol pump close to the BJP office. He sustained multiple stab wounds, including on his back, and collapsed after riding a short distance due to excessive blood loss. He was rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 16, where doctors declared him dead.
Police said the attackers were wearing helmets and arrived on a Bullet motorcycle. Eyewitnesses reported that one of them was armed with a sharp weapon. A shoe and the victim’s scooter were found at the spot, indicating he tried to escape on foot after the attack but collapsed within a few steps.
