Bengaluru, Mar 17 (UNI) Senior BJP leader Basanagouda Patil Yatnal is set to disclose the names of two ministers in the Legislative Assembly on Monday in the gold smuggling case linked to actress Ranya Rao, who was recently arrested.
Addressing the media in Vijayapura on Sunday, Yatnal stated, "I have gathered comprehensive details about the Ranya Rao gold smuggling case. I am aware of the ministers who supported the actress, ensured her exemption from security checks, and arranged official vehicles and security cover."
"Additionally, I have information on the origin of the gold, its concealment, and its ultimate recipients. I will disclose all these details in the Assembly," he asserted.
Dismissing allegations against the Union government, he said, "Union ministers are not involved in this case. I am certain about that. But I do know which two members of the State Cabinet are involved."
Responding to queries, Yatnal noted that all airports are managed by the Airports Authority of India, a Union government agency. "If it is found that Customs officers are involved, I will not support them," he added.
He contended that the case should not be viewed as a failure of the Union government agency, as the accused received protection from two State Cabinet ministers.
Referring to reports about BJP’s role in Ranya's proposed industrial venture, Yatnal acknowledged that the previous BJP government had sanctioned land for the project. "BJP leader Murugesh Nirani has confirmed that he sanctioned land to her company when he was the Industries Minister. However, the land has not been transferred, as the actress did not pay the requisite amount," he clarified.
