Last remnants of American and British forces leave Iraq after more than a decade

Baghdad, Sep 30 (UNI) The last remaining British and American troops have left Iraq, bringing an end to the US-led military coalition's mission against Islamic State after more than a decade of operations in the country. Around 100 British personnel based in Irbil, in Iraq's semi-autonomous Kurdistan region, withdrew in coordination with US forces, which also completed their departure from the country on Wednesday. The withdrawal follows a 2024 agreement between Washington and Baghdad to end the coalition's military mission by the end of September.
