Suez Canal remains safe, traffic operating normally: Authority

Cairo, Sep 21 (UNI) As navigation remains disrupted in the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab al-Mandeb, Egypt on Monday said the Suez Canal remains "safe" and that maritime traffic is operating normally along the strategic waterway, one of the world's most important shipping routes. According to a statement issued by the Suez Canal Authority, its Chairman Osama Rabie made the remarks at a ceremony in Alexandria marking World Maritime Day 2026, organised by the Maritime Transport Sector of the Ministry of Transport.
