Brussels, Sep 17 (UNI) Europe has turned out to be the world's most unusually hot region relative to its historical climate in 2026, with 89% of its population having experienced at least one month of extreme heat during the period from June to August. France and the Holy See recorded temperatures averaging 3.5°C above their historical norms, followed by Andorra and Switzerland. The prolonged heat contributed to record-breaking wildfires, widespread drought and additional pressure on emergency and health services in several parts of the continent.
