Yemen conflict escalates as fighting intensifies, WHO warns of mounting humanitarian toll

Aden, Oct 7 (UNI) World Health Organization Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus on Wednesday warned of a "devastating toll" from the escalating conflict in Yemen, as renewed fighting between government forces and the Houthi movement fuels displacement and puts further pressure on the country's fragile health system. "Nearly 1,000 people have been killed, more than 4,200 injured and almost 198,000 displaced since the latest escalation," Tedros said, citing the worsening humanitarian situation.
