Women not safe in Odisha: AICC Fact-Finding Team

Bhubaneswar, June 24 (UNI) A fact-finding team from the All India Congress Committee (AICC), which investigated several gang rape cases across different parts of Odisha, stated today that women are not safe in the state, not even in the Chief Minister’s own home district.
The five-member team, led by former National Commission for Women Chairperson Deepa Dasmunsi, visited Gopalpur, Tikabali, and Harichandanpur between June 21 and 23 to gather first-hand information on incidents of gang rape and atrocities against women.
Addressing a press conference here, Dasmunsi said they spent three days in the affected areas to understand the plight of recent gang rape victims in Odisha. During the visit, the team met families of the victims, villagers, local leaders, police officials, and district administrators.
