Women-led protest in Patna highlights rise in sexual violence

Patna, Feb 10 (UNI) Hundreds of protesters took to the streets of Patna on Tuesday as AISA-AIPWA organised the “Assembly March” to protest against the "alarming rise" in horrific crimes against women. The women-led protest march, that started from Gandhi Maidan and was headed to the Bihar Legislative Assembly, was stopped by police.
The protesters wanted to submit a memorandum to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar demanding justice in cases of rising sexual violence, rape, and harassment of women, including the NEET aspirant case, after the elections in Bihar.
But Bihar Police stopped them by setting up barricades. When the protesters broke through the barricades, the police intervened forcefully.
