Will Farmers’ 7/12 Records Be Cleared in the Budget Session?

Mumbai, Feb 16 (UNI) The Maharashtra government on Monday directed all banks in the state to submit details of defaulting farmers to the Shinde Committee appointed by the state.
This move has sparked speculation that the government may announce a major farm loan waiver during the upcoming Budget Session, potentially clearing the “7/12 extracts” (land records) of indebted farmers.
Farmers across the state have been facing severe financial distress due to excessive rainfall and drought-like conditions in recent months. Rising prices of fertilizers and seeds, coupled with unstable market rates for agricultural produce, have further worsened their situation. Against this backdrop, opposition parties have consistently demanded a complete loan waiver for farmers.
