Widespread Cloudy conditions, heavy rain forecast across north and central India; IMD Issues alerts

Mumbai/ New Delhi July 17 ( UNI) Large parts of the country, covering nearly 50 to 60 per cent of the landmass, have once again come under cloudy skies as a low-pressure area formed over the Bay of Bengal has intensified rainfall activity across Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and the northeastern states. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall in several parts of these regions over the next seven days.
Weather experts said another weather system is developing near the equatorial region. The combined impact of the two systems is likely to increase rainfall activity across Madhya Pradesh and parts of northern and central India between July 20 and 30.
Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed 16 cloudburst incidents in just 15 days since the beginning of July. The Kashmir Meteorological Centre has warned that the possibility of more such incidents cannot be ruled out in the coming days.
