Why Yash is refusing to postpone 'Toxic' despite its Eid clash with 'Dhurandhar 2'

Mumbai, Feb 16 (UNI) With Eid 2026 fast emerging as a high-voltage box office battleground, Yash has made it clear that "Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-ups" will not vacate its March 29 release date, even as "Dhurandhar: The Revenge" locks the same festive window.
Trade circles have repeatedly questioned the decision, especially given the strong buzz around Dhurandhar in the Hindi-speaking markets. However, those close to Yash insist that his stance is not driven by ego or rivalry, but by strategic confidence.
There have been news reports that “Toxic” is moving its release date. A source close to the film revealed to Variety India, “Yash is a very good businessman. If he had felt threatened by ‘Dhurandhar 2,’ he would have maybe considered postponing it. But he has immense confidence in the film’s content and is banking on a long-term theatrical run rather than just an opening weekend."
The source continues that "Toxic" was officially announced three years back in December 2023. Yash's fans have since been waiting to see him on screen. Yash doesn’t want to back off and disappoint his fans. However, Yash is believed to be irked that the makers of “Dhurandhar” didn't inform him about their Eid release plan, knowing well they had blocked the date last year.
“‘Toxic’ announced its date in March last year. If ‘Dhurandhar 2’ was coming on that date, they should have at least given him a courtesy call. Yash feels the Hindi film industry doesn't have that culture of communication that is common in the southern industries,” adds the source.
With both films certainly releasing on the same date, the upcoming Eid weekend promises a thrilling showdown at the box office. The battle for screens has already started, and publicity teams on both sides are already in overdrive, with aggressive projections and deal figures being floated in the media to build momentum.
